This web comic series called Danby Draws Comics started in August 2020 and is currently updated every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. According to the artist, it is a “comic a day comic that primarily focuses on life, family, games, and nerd culture. The goal of Danby Draws Comics is to provide fun comics that make people happy.
Bored Panda reached out to Daniel to find out more.
“I’ve only loved reading comics since I was a kid. And I’ve been drawing and going out for a long time. I used to post comics and only share them with friends, but during the pandemic, I started sharing on social media. With a few notes and practices, I slowly improved. It was My main inspiration is comedians Bill Watterson and Chris Straub. The goal of comics is to make beautiful cartoons that make people happy.
We asked Daniel some additional questions. First, we asked the artist if he had any major influences in his life that might have helped her develop and refine his style.
Like many others, I grew up reading Calvin and Hobbes comics by Bill Watterson, and that had a huge impact on the kind of comics I like to create. I still use bold outlines and ink because I loved the way his work looked. I wish I could simulate the colors Quite aquatic, but it’s hard to do it digitally. Other major influences will be Mike Kraholic of Penny Arcade and Chris Straub of Broodhollow. I’m a huge fan of their work.
